The Challenge has only just begun!
“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street; fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” Coco Chanel
I started the Fru-Gal Challenge on eco-age.com back in July after I realised the style of most of the women (and of course some of the men) I admired, mimicked and the indeed drooled over, did not come from the over-trodden High Street but were continual projects in the making. For these sartorial shoppers, outfits are not merely picked off a rail and flung on. Oh no, they were foraged and sourced for, built on and thought through. Like overheard stories, second hand clothes will always give a bit more, a little more of a hint about the person in them, a little reflection. Over the last couple of months, we’ve had some truly brilliant illustrations of this.

The rules to becoming a Fru-Gal Challenger are very simple, all you need to do is wear either ethical designs or second hand, charity shop finds. So whether your outfit be vintage, second hand, upcycled or ethical, The Fru-Gal Challenge is here to illustrate that real style is sustainable and not seasonal.
